Service Description

The flower painting workshop will be taking place in the lush gardens of Auchencairn House. Over 5 consecutive days you will establish a language to express the beauty of nature on your canvas using oil paint. Step by step you will be guided through the process, the use of the materials and how to capture the individual characteristics of different flowers. Immerse yourself into the world of colour and fleeting moments making those perishable fragile plants eternal in your painting! Drawing, at the Edinburgh Drawing School! pervades all the work we do and also when using oil paint. Such techniques to achieve 'soft and sharp edges', 'warm and cool colours' 'composition' and 'mixing paint' will be covered throughout this art retreat. If you wish to paint in watercolour please write to info@edinburghdrawingschool.co.uk with your request for consideration. The Daily Schedule will follow a similar pattern each day.. 09.30 - 10.00 slide presentation or live demo from Simone 10.00 - 12.00 with sketchbooks, choose one flower of your choice to study and draw in the walled garden, on day 2 you will paint straight away. 12.00 - 12.30 set up your easel for the afternoon 1pm - 2pm lunch 2 - 5pm - start a painting with Simone giving individual critiques Simone Olivia Moritz is an established painter from Florence, Italy. After graduating in 2009 from the Florence Academy of Art she has been teaching for this well known academy ever since as well as conducting many personal workshops and private tutoring in Italy and abroad. Simone participates regularly in group shows and has had 3 major Solo exhibitions in both Munich and Florence center. Her works are in collections in the US, UK, Europe, China, Israel and Armenia. Her main interest is every day life aesthetic in all it forms, may it be the human figure or plein air and still life paintings. Simone is creating a visual diary of life experiences that capture memories through paint. Prices range from £1900 - £2250 pp +VAT depending on which room you book or if you would like to book The Tower Lodge. All meals provided. Cancellation Policy

We will provide a 50% refund if you give written advance notice up to 30 days before the course start date. 0% refund 30 days before a course starts. Please note there is an administration fee of £5 payable in respect of such refunds to cover payment processing fees. You will need to inform a member of administration staff in writing by emailing EDS at info@edinburghdrawingschool.co.uk. Additionally, if you withdraw for any reason after the course has started you will not be entitled to a refund. We are a small business and we depend on every booking to ensure that classes can go ahead. If a tutor has to withdraw from teaching the scheduled course for any reason (medical/personal/professional) before the start of a scheduled course, during a scheduled course, if the course is 8 weeks long or scheduled as x3 terms of 8 weeks long each, The Edinburgh Drawing School will find a replacement tutor for the course designed by that tutor for The Edinburgh Drawing School. The course content will be the same as the originally booked course. A student will not be entitled to a refund should the school have no option but to find a replacement tutor. If a tutor leaves and starts work elsewhere, and a student prefers to take classes with them personally at the tutor's new workplace, that is at the discretion of the student and no refund is entitled to them or will be given. If a student is unable to attend a class due to medical/personal/professional reasons, then EDS must be informed immediately so that the tutor can be notified. If you are missing a class because you suspect that you have developed Covid-19, please let us know immediately so that we can alert fellow student and tutors. Non-attendance of classes/workshops does not automatically mean a refund, however EDS will assess the circumstance
