Service Description

In this class, children will paint and draw to produce some vibrant expressive work of animals, their own pets or will draw inspiration from the animal kingdom! They will develop over 8 weeks to practise and work towards a final piece. With the use of all media, you will explore drawing and painting animals from life and from photographs. We have two very willing doggy models, Teba the baby whippet, and Minnow Clare's fluffy little bundle! Each week there will be a different task to explore techniques and different media, for example on the first week children will draw birds in flight first to achieve looseness and expression to support later weeks. By the end of week 8 children will have worked towards making a portrait of their pet with the introduction to different mark making techniques. week 1: birds week 2: mark making and materials discovery week 3: animals in their environment week 4: drawing from our 2 doggie life models Teba and Minnow week 5: drawing your own pet, please bring in reference images week 6: starting to work on your final piece and deciding on materials and composition week 7: final piece week 8: final piece To introduce you and to say a little more about Clare, Clare is a professional working artist living in the borders, and studied at Edinburgh College of Art as well as Leith school of Art.
