Service Description
During this workshop, students will learn to draw and develop their own anime characters through a series of engaging exercises designed to enhance their artistic skills. We will focus on the fundamentals of drawing, including line work, shading, color theory, and perspective, all of which contribute to creating accurate and dynamic character representations. Additionally, the course will guide students in crafting compelling and unique characters, emphasizing the importance of backstories and visual traits that resonate with audiences. By combining technical skills with creative storytelling, participants will gain the tools needed to bring their characters to life and make them memorable. Week1: Head rotate perspective Week2: Facial expressions & Drawing eyes Week3: Body figures- child figure & Chibi characters Week4: Body figures- adult man & woman Week5: Body figures- movements stand, sit and run Week6: Dynamic of cloths & hair Week7: coloured pencil colouring Week8: Design your own anime character Since 2020, Shuning has been freelancing and has had the opportunity to publish comics with various publishers. In 2021, her first UK-published comic book, 'Catalyst,' was released. She was honored to participate in the Graphic Anthology Programme (GAP) organized by Selfmadehero, which is aimed at nurturing, publishing, and promoting emerging creators of colour from across the UK. Shuning has been a big fan of Japanese animes since childhood, her favorite's are Detective Conan and Ghibili studio work. She has also always admired the artistry and design found in games and animation. She is dedicated to incorporating these painting techniques into her own work- Utilizing constracting colour and slightly dramatic light and shadow to vividly capture the atmosphere of every scene within each story, bringing people an immersion of emotion. Shuning loves environmental painting and character design. usually she prefer to paint digitally on Procreate and Photoshop. But she also she paints traditionally with gouache and acrylic markers which are her favourite painting tools.

Cancellation Policy
We will provide a 50% refund if you give written advance notice up to 30 days before the course start date. 0% refund 30 days before a course starts. Please note there is an administration fee of £5 payable in respect of such refunds to cover payment processing fees. You will need to inform a member of administration staff in writing by emailing EDS at info@edinburghdrawingschool.co.uk. Additionally, if you withdraw for any reason after the course has started you will not be entitled to a refund. We are a small business and we depend on every booking to ensure that classes can go ahead. If a tutor has to withdraw from teaching the scheduled course for any reason (medical/personal/professional) before the start of a scheduled course, during a scheduled course, if the course is 8 weeks long or scheduled as x3 terms of 8 weeks long each, The Edinburgh Drawing School will find a replacement tutor for the course designed by that tutor for The Edinburgh Drawing School. The course content will be the same as the originally booked course. A student will not be entitled to a refund should the school have no option but to find a replacement tutor. If a tutor leaves and starts work elsewhere, and a student prefers to take classes with them personally at the tutor's new workplace, that is at the discretion of the student and no refund is entitled to them or will be given. If a student is unable to attend a class due to medical/personal/professional reasons, then EDS must be informed immediately so that the tutor can be notified. If you are missing a class because you suspect that you have developed Covid-19, please let us know immediately so that we can alert fellow student and tutors. Non-attendance of classes/workshops does not automatically mean a refund, however EDS will assess the circumstance
