Service Description

Join Alicia Coombs (alicia_coombs_fine_art), to paint a figure in the landscape. Over three days you will explore in oil the immersion of a figure amongst a garden environment; the interplay between the dappled light and surroundings on the figure while both elements compliment the other. The figure will be clothed in a simple white dress and possibly with a traditional parasol to highlight the portrait. Please note: The focus is not on the figure or the portrait, but the painting as a whole where the harmony between the environment and figure is observed as an overall work of art. This course is for intermediate and advanced students or who have some experience of painting in oils already. If you would like to join the course to simply paint from the scene in watercolour you are welcome, but the instruction will be in oil. Working from life, students will experience the readiness of 'the now' while painting amongst nature. As the sun moves across the sky, different shade and effects will passover the figure. Alicia usually takes care of the admin side to the school, but is also a classically trained painter. She has experience painting the clothed figure and also painting outdoors. During this course, these two elements will merge together. The student will come away with 1 or 2 paintings. The sessions can be also divided up into three morning sessions on one canvas, and three afternoon sessions on an alternate canvas.
