Service Description

Our aim is to create interesting mixed media works, improve skills in composition and gain knowledge and confidence in a using a range of drawing materials. We will begin by exploring the potential of the materials on their own and then the emphasis will move to layering and combining materials, looking for unity of colour, texture, surface and imagery. Subject matter will range from direct observational still life, textural studies from the natural word, landscape and cityscape.We will use traditional and non traditional drawings tools such as twigs, sponges and erasers to make expressive works whilst maintaining skill and dexterity in drawing. You will also learn how to interpret your sketches and utilise photographic images in a looser and more personal way to make drawings. Materials to buy Chalk Pastels-a small set of short sticks such as ‘Inscribe’ brand are good. Putty rubber Coloured Drawing Inks (optional) highlighters heavyweight cartridge paper sketchbook Apron or protective clothing Materials EDS provides Pencils-B, 2B, 6B Graphite stick Willow Charcoal Oil Pastels (optional) Indian Ink/Black waterproof drawing ink-small bottle such as Windsor & Newton A small range of coloured pencils, pens, biros, crayons, fine liner pens, marker pens Watercolour set Soft wash brush for ink and watercolour A3 or A4 heavyweight cartridge paper A few sheets of pastel paper Craft knife Glue stick

Cancellation Policy

We will provide a 50% refund if you give written advance notice up to 30 days before the course start date. 0% refund 30 days before a course starts. Please note there is an administration fee of £5 payable in respect of such refunds to cover payment processing fees. You will need to inform a member of administration staff in writing by emailing EDS at info@edinburghdrawingschool.co.uk. Additionally, if you withdraw for any reason after the course has started you will not be entitled to a refund. We are a small business and we depend on every booking to ensure that classes can go ahead. If a student is unable to attend a class due to illness, then EDS must be informed immediately so that the tutor can be notified. If you are missing a class because you suspect that you have developed Covid-19, please let us know immediately so that we can alert fellow student and tutors. Non-attendance of classes/workshops does not automatically mean a refund, however EDS will assess the circumstance
