James Potter

James is a self taught artist. He initially started as a portraitist, painting commissions for families, the forces and is a royal portrait painter. He was also an official war artist in Bosnia. These portraits were in oil, watercolour, charcoal or pencil.

He now paints mostly land and seascapes in oil, and exhibits regularly.

James’ style is loose and painterly, whilst still representing the subject, he believes in happy freedom of expression and to in-still a sense of confidence.

James teaches Introduction to Watercolour courses, in an expressive style great for those new to the medium.
